The Art Gallery of Northumberland is currently seeking applications for Family Programming Facilitator for the summer 2017. Responsibilities include developing and implementing art education for young children and teens in our newly renovated Kid’s Space in the gallery. This position will work closely with AGN Staff, to deliver gallery based programming for visitors and children.


Other responsibilities will include:

Creating and implementing an Education Committee

Developing and leading educational events

Learn and implement Visual Thinking Strategies for interactions with children in the gallery

Attending all AGN events and meetings as required

Acting as gallery docent for visitors as required

Upon hiring, obtain valid police record check with Vulnerable Sector Screening



  • Strong skills and experience working with and teaching children
  • Experience as a visual artist or art instructor; knowledge of artmaking techniques and mediums
  • Ability to research art education and programming
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Desktop applications
  • Strong leadership skills and communication
  • Ability to deliver art education to visitors and children
  • Punctuality; dependability and responsibility
  • Professionalism in a public environment and advocate for the gallery
  • Returning to full time studies in the fall


Salary and Hours:

30 Hours a week, $12.00/hr

Wednesday, Thursday Friday 9am-4pm; Saturday and Sunday 11:30-4pm; Evening and after hours events as required
