Selections from the Permanent Collection: Figurative Work and Portraits
January 7 - February 13, 2010
The Art Gallery of Northumberland kicks off its 50th year with an exhibition of some works from the permanent collection. The collection now has more that 900 works in it and the works represent fifty years of collecting. The works on exhibit until February 13th all deal with people. The works are combination of figurative work (those portraying human and human form) as well as portraits of specific people. The works date from the 1830's through to 2007.
Some of the artists in this exhibition include: Arthur Lismer, Paul Kane, Fredrick Hagen, Grant Macdonald, David Blackwood, Robert Harris, Gerald Hayward, Michael Behan, James Kurelek, D.P. Brown, Harold Town, Laura Muntz, Paavo Airola, Augustus John and John Singer-Seargent, and more.

Anne Wilson and Barbara King

Opening Reception Saturday February 6, 2010 2 - 4 pm
These two women bring strength to their work that makes the viewer enjoy the paintings that they are experiencing. Each uses watercolour in different ways. Both primarily practice landscape with a twist.
Anne Wilson, born and educated in Scotland, has made Cobourg home for many years. Barbara King came to Port Hope more recently by way of Pennsylvania.
